AboveBelow exhibition at Beaconsfield Library, Bucks, UK
In the midst of planning and installing AboveBelow in Beaconsfield library at the moment (part of Buckinghamshire County Council’s drive to get art into public spaces). Took quite a lot of planning and negotiation to install in a space not designed for art exhibitions and where children would be wandering around. Pukurau (white basket fungus) on soil had to enclosed in a custom-made Perspex box in case the toddlers got hungry and started eating soil! Yes, that was make or break for the piece to be included!
Stuart Lawson, stalwart as ever, help me install the work. The mask dates it - still being cautious about COVID.
It was good fun and Chris Hurley, Library Manager, was incredibly helpful and supportive with me using the space for an exhibition. A journalist from Bucks Free Press visited and printed a good review – always good for the self-esteem.
